I used to attempt bootcamps during my days in college. I along with some friends would be a part of them for the oppurtunity to learn something or anything new. I got chance to meet people in the industry of varying age groups and skillsets. On one such occasion I was acquainted with a civil engineer. He was already graduated and working but he was still exploring, searching for options. It was a python bootcamp and we were casually talking about things. He told me “software engineers are really lucky as they dont have to go anywhere cos’ everything you can possibly want is already in this box (pointing towards a laptop).” I was like “yeah haha.

But sometime later I was like holy shit, he’s right. I dont need anything else, I got everything I need right here. This box is all I need. I can be virtuallty present on any part of the map, collaborate with any team and contribute to any projects. But like anything good in this world it comes with the cons.

The point I want to stress on is I spend 10–12 hours in front of my screen daily. I know a lot of people who do the same. So this is supposed to be a reminder to me and my folks on how to manage this.

Drink a lot of water

Water is almost zero calories, and is very important for survival. Yup we all know this, but you know what else it stimulates? Pee Break XD. Take a sip of water every ten minutes or so and boom u need to go to the restroom. That will be two minutes or so we wont be staring into a screen.

Cure for dry eyes

Get some eye lubrication drops and use them daily on need basis or consult a physician. You can get blue-ray cut lenses which filters away most of harmful blue light. Also, eye massages are supposed to help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnuofNsfXFo&ab_channel=YasukoKawamura

More Breaks

Take a 5-10 min break every hour or so. Go talk to your colleagues, or your family members in this remote setting. Do some chores, help your mom. It will help you stay productive and less straining of your eyes.

Exercise

A morning jog would do wonders to anyone or a visit to the gym. But remember any form exercise is better than none. There are plenty of eye exercise that you can follow and I’m very positive they help on reducing eye strain.

This is all I could come up with. Let me know anything else you guys follow.
